Question:

1998 Honda Civic LX coil/springs problem

The strangest thing happened today while working and finishing the job at hand. I bought some stock coil/springs that came from a 99 civic si for my 98 civic lx. So I took the one that was originally on my car, they were heated and lowered, and replaced it with the new used ones that I bought. The person I bought it from also told me which ones were for the fronts and which ones were for the backs. After putting in the coil/springs for all four struts, the front seem fine but the back was very odd. The back seem to have been raised about 8-10 inches or so...and these were only stock rims. Since the backs were raised that high, the front was now very low and my rims were right on the fenders. What happened? What did I do wrong?

  1. you reversed the front and backs.  the strong springs with the higher spring coefficient should go on the front since the engine is in the front.

  2. lol sounds to me ou mixed them up. you have the fronts in the rear and vise versa! one way i make sure i have the right ones, is that i check the lenght of the 4 springs. the skinnier, taller ones are for the front. the shorter ones are the rears.
