1998 dodge neon speedometer?

i have a 1998 dodge neon and my speedometer gauge doesnt work the connections are fine. What else could it be and what are the odds?

Mine has the same problem and I haven't brought it to be fixed, but I have pushed up on the lower part on the speedo as a temp. fix by wedging something between the colum and the bottom of the speedo and it works.
