The emergency brake handle on my car is extremely loose when down, i can wiggle it around and if i barely move it up, it says that it is on. But when I go to pull it up, its very tight and doesnt go up very high. Whats wrong here? Do I need a new cable or something?

  1. Have the e-brake cable adjusted. It's a pretty simple matter.

You'll want to check caliper function at this time as well, if they haven't been serviced, and possibly grease the slider pins in the calipers.

  2. No in my uncles jetta its a 2004 but the parking brake is like that and even when you hit a big pothole or bump it bounces up one click. But when he parks and pulls it up it only clicks 4 or 5 times and it is very tight! im not sure what it is but i took it to the garage and they said it was ok and they checked the cable and the handbrake itsself and the mechanic said every thing is fine and no worries.
