My friend has a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and it will not start. He drove it to a library and after he got out it would not start anymore. I went over there to check it out if I could do anything but nothing I tried worked. It was very low on oil and we refilled it, I checked the air filter and its not that. The engine turns but does not start. All of the electrical works fine. One thing I did notice is that there was really dirty oil in the air intake right after the Mass Air Flow Sensor and resivour thing that is on the intake hose, the oil was where the hose and throttle body meet, I have no idea why there was oil there and am a little concerned about that.

If any one has any ideas on what can be wrong please let me know, we need to get this car out of the parking lot asap. Thanks to anyone who helps!!!

  1. Some newer cars have sensors that will not allow them to start if the oil gets too low. Try disconnecting the neg. battery cable for a minute or two and see if that resets any sensors, codes, etc. Other than that, its really hard to tell without seeing it.

  2. fuel pump, crank senser? anti theft? is the theft light flashing?
