  1. engine shut down relay, my brothers truck a 98 dakota with a 3.9 had the same problem once we replaced the relay and it worked fine after that

  2. Obvious check fuel tank first. But even then if it's sat for a bit the fuel lines may have evaporated the gas in them.   May have to prime the engine directly to get it to run long enough to get fuel in the filter, lines and pump.     Gas could have gone "bad" sitting that long so get fresh gas in it asap once it starts.

  3. The list of problems that could be causing this is very long.  Your best bet is to take the car to a local mom-and-pop mechanic with a good reputation.  They usually give free estimates.  It could be something as simple as needing a tune-up and/or a new fuel filter, but it could be something more costly.  That's why it's best to have a mechanic look at it before you start throwing money into it -- you may waste a lot of money on repairs that won't do you any good.

  4. I'd say is was fuel.  You need to take some starter fluid and spray into the intake and see if it fires off.  If it does its probably in the fuel someplace.  Don't overspray.

  5. check that engine is getting fuel, and check that your plugs are fireing

    Fuel, fire and air.
