1999 Dodge Ram 1500 BIG PROBLEMS?

99 ram 1500 4x4

plenum just replaced in june

The trucks been acting funny lately...not speeding up anymore past 4000 rpms...

Thought it was a tranny

but then today, i was driving down the road, and engined just revved and check engine like flashed.

checked teh codes, multiple/random cylinder misfires. Checked twice and all 8 were misfiring at some point.

Going to get the cat pressure tested tomrrow if it'll run. cant get it above 2500 RPMs or itll just stop.

Any other ideas?

if it was bad tranny it would rev up real high and not go no where,  if you cant rev it above 2500 now id say the cat is stopped up on it ,but have it checked,when you got it at ever where you take it to also have them scan the computer on it,this could be a throttle position sensor that has went out on it,when they go all the way this is how they will do,midas does test the cats for free,so that will give you some kind of an idea of what its doing,there's to many things on that truck that could cause that,wish i could help more,but there just not enough to go on with this one,good luck with it.

If you think is your cat, you can simply disconnect the upper O2 sensor before the cat ( take the sensor out of the pipe) and drive the car, see if it has power.

or your upper O2 sensor is bad.

the crank sensor has his issue too,

and the map sensor.

I just had something like this happen a couple of months ago to me. I would check some of the sensors because this was happening to me. This truck has a bunch of electrical, I would check those, and some of it might be the tranny, because they go bad really easily, and soon. How many miles is on this truck?
