Question:

1999 EX500 Ninja Leaking Oil

Hi,

I have a 1999 Kawasaki Ninja EX500 that I got about a month ago. Everything seemed to be going fine and all of a sudden today I realized it was leaking oil. There are big oil spots that appear underneath the bike every time I park it somewhere... I'm pretty sure it's oil. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it.

Thanks

  1. Machines develop oil leaks. Take off enough faring so you can see the whole engine, clean the engine real well, and check it real often to determine where the oil is coming from. Hopefully it's a gasket and not a seal where the crankshaft sticks out. You can replace a gasket or tighten the bolts a little but a seal requires disassembly of the lower part of the engine to replace. Good luck.
