Need a power steering pump and need engine VIN.

I see it is either a U or an S. I am assuming a U from my Serial number but obviously will not go on assumption alone.

I have found that the 8th digit is my engine VIN....in this case U, so hope that helps. Also here is a link:

just call the parts store an tell them the make, model, year an engine size. an they will get you the part you need. take the old part with you when you go to the parts store so you can conpare them an get the right one for your car

  2. Your engine is a 3.0L, non flex fuel.

  3.    By your car serial number- the engine identifier is "U"    - a 3.0 liter V-6; the most common engine used in the Taurus.

That is all the auto parts  store needs to supply you with the correct power steering pump.

  4. i give u thumb up
