what kind of sound system does it have?

All of the stock stereos in GM cars are Delco. Unless you have the Monsoon system. Then it's a delco with a small amp and a few extra speakers.

All GM cars have stock Delco systems, and if equipped with an EQ it has a built in amp. so all you really have to do is add a small amp and subs if you are looking to add bass to your system, now in some Cadillac and higher priced GMC Trucks and SUV's  its a BOSE system, but what ever the system you really don't need to change the unit unless you have a tape system and want to add a CD, also if you have a aux button you can add a mp3/4 or ipod jack to the RCA jacks in the rear of the system.
