Question:

1999 Sebring Convertible - Overheating?

I have a 1999 Sebring Convertible that started to overheat a few months ago while sitting at a drive through. I pulled out of the drive through and started driving to a nearby gas station and the temp automatically goes down. I have not had a problem since. It has been 2 months and I have sat in drive-throughs, drove to work everyday etc... So I was thinking it was a fluke.

Today my husband takes my car to work and everything is fine. He then takes it to lunch and about the time he was getting back it was overheating with smoke starting to come out.

The 1st time it happened it never went that far, no smoke just a smell and the temp gauge all the way up.

Can any advise on what the most likely cause would be.

Thanks

  1. The most likely cause would be a coolant leak, head gasket leak, intake leak, fans not working properly. I would take it to a shop and have the cooling system checked out by a pro. It wont cost that much to have it checked out and the problem(s) pinpointed.
