Question:

1999 dodge grand caravan a/c fan doesn't work.?

The a/c works because above 20 MPH it blows cold air through the vents but fan does not turn on. The dealer says I need a new block(?) for only $400. He checked the fuses but he says there is something wrong between the fuse box under the hood and the fuse box under the dash. Car has 98,000 miles on it and it is a second car used to pick up lumber at Lowe's. Can I have it fixed cheaper?

  1. you might want to run a  relay to your fan . use the compressor voltage to triger the relay .$5 fix for a $400 prob .good luck . I should read slower . i thought you were talking condser fan . good luck any way

  2. Have you tried it on high speed? Could be the resistor pack.

You could remove the motor and hook it up straight to the battery to see if it works.

  3. I'm assuming you are talking about the blower motor. If its a bad blower motor you can put in a motor for about $60 if you do it yourself. If its a power supply problem to the blower motor you might just rig a toggle switch to it with a fuse in the hot wire.

  4. AC problems with that van were common (I had one, my mechanic said it was something they fixed often).  mine actually cost more than that once all was said and done.
