We just bought a 1999 gmc jimmy ,twice now it has not started, and after reading the owners manual , i think it is the passlock system, because after doing a few things it says to do in the manual, it starts right up and runs fine all day.Is there a way to turn this system off, maybe pull a fuse or something? any help would be great

  1. Dave, go to your local parts store and have them pull an Ignition Lock Cylinder. Look at the part and you will find 2 very thin wires coming off the switch. These wires move with each turn of the key. They tend to brake off at some point. Yours are close. The top of the  steering column must come apart to fish the wires down. If you have never done one, be careful. Good Luck    TW

  2. My buddy has a Caddy, that has a 3 min delay. Something is wrong with his and he is always waiting for the time to go down. They are a bummer. He said he cant bypass his, sorry I wasnt much help but I feel for you, Ive been sitting at a gas pump for 12 minutes before. Thats a long time when you are just hanging at a gas station!!
