Ok Im having trouble with choosing an MOS and the shame of the deal is that I am Re-enlisting. I am a prior service 11 bang bang but the issue is i have a daughter this time around. Tell me about Cav scouts and if its a good choice. you think ill regret it? I live for the thrill but I feel that kinda leaving with this new parenting thing. Maybe I can settle for a different kind of thrill with 31B(mp) which is still dangerous but not as intense.... :( but anyway I AM NOT INTERESTED IN RE-CLASSING TO A ADMIN OR ANY RELATED TYPE JOB WHERE I SIT ON MY *** AND DO NOTHING. EVEN IF I ENTER THE CIVILIAN WORLD ID BE LOOKING AT LAW ENFORCEMENT (STATE, FEDERAL OR COUNTY) BUT PLEASE DONT REFER ANY ADMIN TYPE MOS I KNOW MYSELF. I JUST NEED ADVICE ON THIS SITUATION THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  1. Army cav scout is something that i looked into before joining marine option nrotc. what the recruiter told me is that you are basically doing recon missions, trying to figure out terrain, best places to place weapons, where their officer base is, weather, all of that type of stuff. some times you are in a guard tower with a pair of binoculars. a 31b is also another mos i was looking into. often with these you can get stationed in a neutral country and be able to bring family with, such as germany. you dont get to see nearly as much action, but you are the BAs of the army. You have to be able to take down other soldiers if need be. Sounds like we are alot alike. I might be biased on this, but you could also think about transfering to another branch of military such as the marines. you could be an MP for them, and see more action that way, in the marines, every solider is a warrior.

  2. 19D roll with armored units and recon they use mark 19s and fifties. Personally I think you might want to stay 11B and get in the 509 82nd abrn infantry they train people at JRTC. Youtube JRTC the job isn't exactly combat but they're the best combat trainers they average 1 to 10 lose ratio using the miles system. It look pretty fun too.

  3. h**l no. What job does 19D qualify you for when you leave the service? Find an MOS that will get you a good job when you get out like an airplane mechanic, or computer programmer! Especially since you have a child!

  4. I was a 19D Cav Scout for 20 years and loved every second and it is a great choice, but if your a single parent I wouldn't advise it, you'll be gone a lot and your daughter comes first.
