  1. Search for Sound Generator or Tone Generator and download some software to make the sound.  There's plenty of free stuff out there.

As for playing 19Hz, the iPod is a really bad way to approach it.  The amp and the earbuds are unlikely to replicate anything below about 60Hz even if you're lucky.  To get 19Hz you have to go in to some serious HiFi stuff.  Also, Mp3 is designed to compress files and it does this by chopping irrelevant parts of the signal out.  Mp3 will cut off a 19Hz signal.

So you need a tone generator, extremely good sound equipment and the file to be lossless WAV/AIFF/FLAC.  Anything else will not produce the sound and is likely to just be charlatanism.

  2. Technically yes, you could hear a 19 Hz sound clip through Ipod earbuds. But you're really pushing the limits. The limit of human hearing in the low frequency range is about 20 Hz, and the highest quality earbuds also have a lower frequency response limit of 20 Hz, so you're really at the very edge where your hearing and the earbud sound reproduction is weakest. Personally I think its doubtful that you'd hear any sounds at all.

I googled "infrasound" and "mp3" and got a few hits, although some of them are for a band named Infrasound.

    good luck :)
