Their mom is my firend and has asked me to plan the party. They will turn 1 year old in March 2009. We all live in NY. She can't do it in her apartment because there is no room. And she doesnt want to do it at a Chuck E. Cheese (or anything like that) because they are too young to really enjoy places like that. Any ideas?????

  1. a house is the best place, maybe try to find someone you know that is willing to hold at there home becuase any other place has too many other people and isnt fit for it

  2. I did their first birthday at home, but seeing you live in NYC - I hear what your saying (I lived there for a while pre-kids).  Anyway, there's a great children's museum on W 83rd.  They do Birthday Parties.  Long Island also has a really nice one, but for the 1 year olds, I think the one in Manhattan is perfect.  Here's the link

  3. For my childs first birthday I rented a very nice hall.  The cost was not huge but I had family help out with all the food and it was nice to have the party and then leave without trashing someones house.  You can hire a clown, DJ or other entertainment to keep the party going.  The family will have a blast with a DJ.

Make it a big family/friend celebration as the children are still kind of young.  Make it something everyone remembers.  The kids will love being on the dance floor dancing around with family and friends.

Kids love to dance it makes them laugh and smile and wears them out for mom and dad.  My husband and I every weekend shut the tv off and turn up the radio and dance around the living room with the kids.  THEY LOVE IT and now they are 2 and 3

  4. I've got to be honest - I wish my son's first birthday had been just family and one friend.  He didn't enjoy all the people and noise, he didn't get the presents.  He didn't even like the cake and make cute pictures!

    I did balloons, decorations, etc.

The only thing he liked was balloons.

I guess I would find a place where the kids can toddle around and play.

Our gymboree does birthdays, and I know there are other party places like that - with bouncer or with mats and stuff to tumble.

    Good luck.

  5. A good ol' back yard. Make a theme to make it fun: like Clowns and Balloons (have the guests dress as clowns), Carnival (have miniature toys), Mini Olympics (make up games to compete and win snacks - make sure everyone wins something, games like baby crawl, toddle race, ring around the rosy, Simon Says, ball toss - soft ball of course, Mommy ( or Daddy) and Me exercise, dance contest, Hokie Pokie.

  6. How about Central Park if you live in NY!! Just kidding. Any water parks or parks where you could like have a picnic or something?

  7. a zoo so they can see the animals

  8. go to the park, or the aquarium, or to the zoo,  but it hink the best place would be a park. just make sure all the parents stay with their kids, because children tend to wander off.
