I sold my car with 4 months remaining on my policy phoned the customer service of this awful company after a long wait a lady answered to say you have to keep your policy until the end I told here I have sold the car and will not need cover, I also told her that all other insurance company you only need to phone to cancel the insurance policy then send back the policy and you will get refund minus any charges applied. I kept sending recorded letters saying what I have said above but I get no replay from the at all. I know the refund is not much but people like these should not get away with doing things like this to consumer.

  1. File a complaint with your state insurance department.

This has ABOLUTELY NOTHING to do with not buying through an agent.  NOTHING.

  2. There's no question here.

You did "do it yourself insurance".  You should have used an agent.

And, no one will cancel a policy from a verbal request.  NO ONE.

  3. talk to your local better business bureau

  4. Call the state insurance commissioner's office & file a complaint with them.  There's no reason you should pay the premium for coverage you don't need.
