My son's first bday is on July 5th. I am having the party that day. I don't have a lot of money so it will be a bbq in my backyard. I already have cute 1st bday decorations and I am going to do a few small appetizers and for dessert the baby will have his smash cake and I will put out a tray of cupcakes, brownies, and cookies for everyone. I need a cheap easy menu for the bbq part. I am thinking hamburgers, hot dogs, and some cold salads. But, that seems to boring to me. Does anyone else have some suggestions for quick, easy, and CHEAP bbq food I could do for about 30 people (adults and kids). I also could us some good cold salad or side dishes (recipes or ideas). Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.

  1. hey, i'm assuming your main guests will be kids, and heck, they sure likely to be happy with hotdogs and hamburgurs.  Don't sweat it too much.  Maybe add some baked potatoes (wrapped in tin foil).

  2. with the money shortish have it a bbq potluck have everyone bring there fav dish to share......

  3. Being that his birthday is the day after 4th of July(Independence day) and people will have just gone to or be going to BBQ's I would do something different food-wise..

Make an afternoon 2pm-4pm party so you don't have to serve lunch or dinner just snacks/appetizers, cake, coffee, tea and juice.

Cold cut/cheese trays(and bread) OR a subway 3-6ft long sandwich OR  mini meatball sandwiches and chicken fingers, wings or pizza rolls.

Some salads,chips/pretzels, seedless watermelon, put the cookies, brownies and cupcakes out with coffee/tea for the adults and juice for the kids.

Happy Birthday to your little guy =)

Edit: I just found this website with lots of ideas, you might find something you like on it.
