You draw first pick in your Fantasy Football League for 2008 (Standard rules, non-ppr, non-idp, 6 pts each TD including pass).

Whom do YOU pick?

  1. As tempting as Brady might be, it's LT.

If you take a QB at #1, your RB platoon will suffer.  LT is proven, reliable, and will still allow you to take a Romo/Palmer/Brees caliber QB.

There are precious few feature RBs.

I like Peterson very much, but he is fragile (both in college and as a Viking so far), and he is a timeshare back.  Chester Taylor will spell him a significant amount, much more than the shrimp Darren Sproles will for LT.

LT is safe, solid, a no-brainer.

Another thing to consider... trade down the board.  Even a spot or three would still deliver Addai or Steven Jackson, and you would stockpile addtional picks or other compensation.

  2. i would say AP over

Brady because RB isnt nearly as deep as QB

LT because AP is younger and i think LT has already hit his prime.

  3. Fist pick, cant go wrong with Brady or Manning! don't risk it on a player with 1 good year!

  4. Brady will score the most points in that group, especially with 6-point TD passes.  But he won't be as far separated from the masses at the QB position as LT or AP or Westbrook.  I would go with LT but AP is a good choice also.  LT is more of a sure thing, AP is a much bigger risk but has a chance to have one of the best all-time fantasy years.

  5. has to be LT, i'm afraid to pick AP, he's great, but his running style plus the sophmore jinx are things im to afraid to risk, he'll share carries with chester taylor also

  6. I strongly believe that this is the year to wait on a QB.  There are only about 5 elite RBs in the league this year but there are about 10 QBs that could put up 3500+ yards and 30TDs.

I don't think it's a good idea to count on Brady to score 50 TDs again, I think he'll come back down to earth.

Take your pick between LT and Peterson.  Really, you can't go wrong either way.  Personally, I'd rather take Peterson because of his age and he is just so fun to watch.  LT is also very good but I worry about his mileage and he has been dinged up a bit the last few years.

The last time a QB went this high in drafts it was Kurt Warner.   That year he completely dropped off of the map.  Don't make that mistake.  Wait until the 9th or 10th round and grab a couple of good QBs like Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Phillip Rivers, Jake Delhomme, etc.  Let all the other bozos reach for QBs while you fill out your roster with stud RBs and WRs.

It's all about value, and a QB in the first round is never good value.

  7. Tom Brady
