Any kind of grants or financial support for living on your own and going to school. Any suggestions?

  1. First you need to go to www.fafsa.ed.gov... This is a must! They offer grants, loans, and work study. The only problem is that they take your parents income and base it on that as well as yours. But it is still worth a try because the loans have the best interest rate around and you can defer payment.

For scholarships, I would check out local agencies. Type in your county and the word "Community Foundation" into google....Mine would be Saginaw County Community Foundation etc.... this is a great place to find scholarships... and most counties offer this. The secret is most people don't realize this place...so they get fewer apps then colleges get for their scholarships. Scholarships are just as good as grants because it just means FREE MONEY!! try Fastweb.com and other local agencies that give out scholarships.
