My parents want to plan a family vacation out of the United States for our family. It would be everyone's first time out of the U.S. We were thinking of Greece, or Italy? or anywhere out of the country. Anybody have any good ideas? All of the children are adults now (ages 25, 28, and 33).

  1. I love Australia, although it is far and expensive to get to.  The Aussies are very friendly.  Also, Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are all very nice cities.  Clean, too.  Lots to see and do for a family.  Montreal is alot like France. Lots of French culture there. Just depends on what you're looking for.

  2. Depends on size of budget and how much time you have, whether you like beach or culture or mountains or water.  Do you want to stay in a small area and see it in depth or see a lot of different places in a short time (and forget what was where)?  Once there, do you want to do a cruise or rent a car or travel by train (my recommendation - more fun and everyone there does it).

It's a big, beautiful world with so much of interest to see no matter where you go.

  3. I just visited Greece 2 months ago and had a great time.  If you decide to go there, definitely go to Santorini.  The island has the most spectacular views & lots of beaches (black sand beaches, red sand beaches, etc.).  Head to Oia, one of the main cities, to view the sunset.  Take a tour of Nea Kameni (the volcano) and stop by the hot springs.  You'll definitely enjoy yourself.

Bear prices in mind.  When I went there, 1 euro was approx equal to 1.5 dollars.
