  1. go on a pretty mild roller coaster. that's how i started. i just worked my way up. if you are totally scared on the ride just hold on to whatever's in front of you, and straining works for me well.

in line waiting can be really scary, almost worse than the actual

ride. you just have to stick too it and don't chicken out. and remember, roller coasters aren't 3 hours long. you're usually surprized about how short the ride time is. good luck!

  2. My advice would be think of something when your going up for you first big jump. I would start out with not the biggest roller coaster but a more easy going one to get the feel of it. Just go for it because if you don't go on you will really regret it when you actually can't go on, so if you have to sing a song when your getting on, heck say a prayer if you're that scared.but good luck.

reminder: the most important thing to do is to have fun!!!

  3. Well i know how you feel. I used to feel like that to. But its awesome. You are more nervous because you don't know whats going to happen. Roller Coasters are awesome. My first coaster was Rock N Roller Coaster at Disney. Once you experiance your first coaster your gonna want to ride more and more like me. I have ridden tons of them including the tallest dive coaster. But trust me its going to be great.

  4. I know exactly how you feel.  This year will also be my first time and what I am going to do is to have my dad near me(or my friend)and talk to them and keep my mind off the ride.  I also was told to think of your favorite ride and pretend you are on it.  But most importantly never give up, if you don't get on one year, maybe next year will be better.  Hope you have fun and enjoy the ride.

  5. There is really nothing that can prepare you for a roller coaster if you're that scared. Maybe have a close friend go on the ride with you and talk to you during the whole wait before the ride actually starts. Have them tell jokes or talk about pastimes to keep your mind off it.

  6. The best thing to do is to take it slow and ride a milder roller coaster first. Then if you like it you can ride a bigger one. This way you can test your limits. About the nerves you just have to face your fears and ride...there is no specific way to be calm. I know exactly how you feel and I was very nervous about riding roller coasters as well, but now I am a coaster enthusiast. It just takes courage to ride one time. If you like it, then try something else. If not, you don't ever have to ride another roller coaster. But either way, you will be scared and nervous. Just take deep breaths and it will be over before you know it.

  7. dont be scared.

    i was...

    until i got on it!

    it's sooo awesome

  8. idk what park you are going to, but you may want to go on an indoor coaster first, only b/c you won't be able to see it while you're in line.  I think that's what scared people the most, watching it go by for the hour that you are standing there.

    good luck

  9. wow !!! i love roller coasters!!!! im a big fan of hights, speed, and drops!!! well what i did is to hold on and whatever u do KEEP UR EYES OPEN it feels a lot worse when they are closed (believe me) and then pushs ur feet against the car or lock ur feet together and think happy thought!!! hope u have fun!!! you will be fine!!

  10. I just rode my first roller coaster a few days ago. I was kind of like you. It wasn;t actually riding the coaster that was the bigger factor it was waiting and I believe I panic.

Really all you have to do is get in the car and strap yourself in cause once you go up that first hill you can't go back!

As far as calming yourself down goes tell yourself this

"As long as your still breathing your fine." "The roller coaster won't last forever it ends in a few minutes"

"After the biggest hills you won't feel a thing."

I used to never ride roller coaster because I would get a terrible feeling where I couldn't breath but I actually rode one (my friends got me to do it) and I found out that I still felt weird but after the first big hill or drop I didn't feel a thing, just felt like normal to me.

Keeping yourself calm while waiting in line: Tell yourself: "on't think about it too hard" once you think too hard you start to worry and then panic which leads to you trying to find a way to get away from whatever your panicking about which would be riding the coaster in your case. "Tell yourself it's not that bad. There could be worse, like skydiving or something." And if you think skydiving isn't that bad then you should be able to ride roller coasters, lol.
