Question:

2, 115 volt 15 amp plugs to 1 115 volt 30 amp plug

I have a Pincor 3300 watt generator with two 15 amp outlets. Each outlet has it's own 15 amp breaker. Can I make an adaptor plug that would allow me to use 115volt/30amp power from the two 15 amp outlets?

  1. I suppose that in theory if you made an adaptor that plugged into each of the existing outlets and connected all of their points in parallel into a new combined outlet it would be a 30 amp outlet in theory. That is assuming that the new outlet would split the current flowing out exactly in half between the two 15 amp outlets since they had the same resistance.

But I don't know if this is wise and I probably would not do it. There could be an imbalance in the current flowing into the two outlets and it would probably trip the one with more current.

It would make more sense to take one of the outlets and replace its wiring all the way to the power source with higher gauge wiring that could support 30 amps and then disable the other outlet.  I don't know how easy that would be for your generator though.
