2.4 liter engine shaking alot and not running correctly

Question

I have a 1997 2.4 cavalier. When the engine is running it shakes back and fourth alot and the whole exaust is shaking too. There is also kind of a popping sound coming from the exaust. Also the idle goes up and down a little. someone told me it could be something to do with the valves and said i should mix that cleaner stuff in the gas, could it help?

but also check the engine mounts and check the timing

u could have mutiple problems also, older car

1) exhaust loose

2) yes u could have bad gas or a fuel filter partially clogged

3) engine mount busted

Try buying top grade gas for a couple tanks see if that helps, it will do a better job cleaning out injectors then adding a cleaner, Do a tune-up those would be the 1st 2 steps that i would do to start troubleshooting ur problem

I,d start with a new set of plugs and wires. Could be dirty fuel injectors. Injectors should be checked and cleaned by a shop.
