2.5" SATA HDD for PS3

im thinking about upgrading my PS3 harddrive... i've noticed that there are different speeds like 7200rpm, 5400rpm, etc.

whats the advantage for faster speed? would it make the demo installation faster?? please help me out here...

  1. a 7200 rpm HDD will work perfectly. the only reason sony used the 5400 is for quanity price. they could purchase more 5400 rpm HDD than they could 7200 rpm for less money.

    so to answer your question youll be fine with a 7200 rpm HD.


  2. 7200rpm is faster, but only 5400rpm is guranteed to work with PS3, so you have to get 5400

  3. 7200rpm is slightly faster. On internet I saw guys trying both of them. The difference in speed is barely noticeable on PS3. Sony recommends 540rpm.
