okay. i know the answers to these, but i can't word them correctly. I only have 2 left. My last assignment before summer ! please help :)

1. How do physical features change surrounding land?

2A. What does having oil or not having oil do to a country?

2B. How does a country with oil differ from a country without?

  1. Having oil means you're an exporter and you become rich and not having it means you're an importer and you become us.


  2. #1:  well, a mountain might have runoff that could flood a plain next to it.  That's why there are flood plain projects, to stem that type of flooding.

    #2:  Oil-producing countries tend to be very corrupt, because a LOT of money is invovled in oil.  Look at the countires like Nigeria, Venezuela, Indonesia etc.  They are very dangerous countries in which to operate.  

    Non-oil producing countries are at the mercy of the global oil market, the largest commodity market in the world.  Oil producers (not only Arab countries) can set prices, which the rest of the world has to match (we produce oil, but not nearly enough).  The non oil-producers have to use coal more (if they have it), which is not as clean-burning.

    Since all oil in the world is denominated in dollars, and the dollar is weak right now, the US is spending more of its income on oil than countries with stronger currencies, like the EU.
