  1. If you get the chance, definitely take a gondola ride.  They are pricely, but a good relaxing way to either meet or leave the city.  Venice is all about shopping!  There are tons of shops, but not much in the way of touristy stuff. Remember Venice is known for it's handblown glass and lace.  Shop around for these items and remember to look for the offical mark when buying glass.

If you like history, definitely hit St Marks Cathedral and St Marks Square.  It has a wonderful moorish design and the interior is beautiful. Don't eat at any of the cafes in front of St Marks.  They are a real tourist trap.

    Hope that helps.

  2. I personally would not take a gondola ride, I would save my money for other things....I thought just using the regualar transport boats (forgotton names) are relaxing and you see much more of Venice.

Go to St Marco Square, cathedral and the Doge's Palace...there are lots of churches, stalls etc to see.

Venice is quite small and quick to get around so you can take your time.

I have heard that going to the Murano glass factory is worth a trip.

There are lots of little places to explore...although I found some of the small  back streets a bit creepy at times.

    Enjoy your stay!
