Right me and my friend are 22 year old guys from england looking to visit the usa for a week or 2 in october time. We have done miami and to be honest didnt think it was all that great, mainly due to the fact it was full of spanish. Nothing against the spanish, infact just come back from spain but would just like a place to visit to see the real side of Americans and meet some nice americans whilst out there!

Any suggestions would be much welcomed ( first time i've used yahoo), looking for a place with good nightlife too in terms of bars and clubs!

Thanks

Brent

  1. New Orleans maybe but its a bit depressing too..

i am in Canada, visit Canada instead

    Edmonton!!!  Montreal (french).. Toronto

  2. Austin, Texas has a great climate, lots of fun bars and clubs (its nickname is the "Live Music Capital of the World" and deservedly so).  It's a hilly and beautiful area with many trees and lakes.  The people are genuinely friendly and the crime rate is very low. Austin's also a melting pot culturally but the majority is still of European ancestry with Hispanics and African Americans filling in most of the remainder.  Austin's also a relatively inexpensive place.

    I think you'd love Austin (I know I do).

  3. Chicago is an excellent place to visit with more bars than you can pillage in a month as well as numerous museums and other sites. The people are primarily midwesterners that will give a great representation of the American people.

  4. Houston, Texas.

  5. Boston !   The nightlife is great and lots to see and do during the day whatever you are into.  Plus you have the bonus of being there in the fall and New Hampshire is perfect, and only an hour away.

    Have a great holiday !

  6. New England because you'd be there for the fall! I'd recommend spending a week in Boston and a week in small town Massachusetts. Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are too rural for my liking but Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut have a good mix of countryside and towns. It would be quite fun to stay there for the presidential election, which is the first Tuesday in November.

  7. Big city nightlife?  NYC is kinda a freakshow, but there's a lot to do.  If you want to see the real side of Americans, you would have to venture into the suburbs of most major cities.  Chicago is a fun city too.  L.A. might be nice, but once again, there are just as many hispanic immigrants in L.A. as Miami.  I'm from Michigan, north of Detroit.  I like to go out on the lake in the summer time.  If you want to do some boating/wakeboarding/jetskiing/party on the water then come to the Great Lake State.  Clubs and nightlife in Detroit are dangerous sometimes.  Outdoors - Michigan is a great time once again.

I imagine you will want to do a bunch of things in the limited time you have in the U.S., so I would say a city like Chicago or NYC would give you a lot to do.  I recommend Chicago.  October is football and hockey season as well (and baseball, if you're into being bored out of your skulls), so maybe try and catch a game.  Enjoy your stay in the states fellas.

Kimchee Cowpoke - Austin is close to 50% Mexican.  He clearly stated that they don't want to go somewhere with a quarter million hispanic immigrants per square mile.  Why would you suggest Texas?

  8. Philadelphia and its suburbs are excellent. Also Nantucket is nice.

  9. Philadelphia was voted America's ugliest city (for people not buildings)
