I hit these two like a brick wall. I have never seen these before. I am so screwed! Please explain!

EXPRESS THE RESULT AS A MIXED NUMBER

3 3/4 + 1/5

__________

5/8

^^ I can't write the question exactly as it looks on paper because this software wont let me. But basically those two mixed numbers with a line under it and the 5/8's in the centre.

QUESTION 2

DETERMINE THE MISSING VALUE ROUNDED PROPERLY TO TWO DECIMAL PLACES:

x/22 = 20/4

  1. 15/4+1/5

    ------------

    5/8

    150/40+8/40

    ------------------

    25/40

    158/40

    ---------

    25/40

    158   40

    -----  ------

    40     25

    6320

    ------

    1000

    6 32/100

    6 8/25

    158/25

    x     20

    ----   ----

    22    4

    4x=440

    ------------

    4     4

    x=110

  2. Answer #1) 6 8/25 ( I did the calculation on paper)

    Answer #2)

    x/22 = 20/4

    x/22=5

    x=5*22

    x= 110

    To write in two decimal places the answer should be written as

    x= 110.00

  3. HA HA HA HA HA HA!!  You are gonna flunk.  You are gonna flunk.  Try studying instead of mooching.

  4. Start by simplifying the top

    3 3/4 is 15/4 so you have 15/4 + 1/5

    To add the fractions, you need to have the denominators (bottoms) the same.  Both 4 and 5 divide evenly into 20, so a common denominator is 20.  Multiply the top and bottom of the first fraction by 5

    75/20 + 1/5

    Multiply the top and bottom of the second fraction by 4

    75/20+4/20

    Add them together

    79/20

    Now, you're dividing by 5/8 To divide fractions, just multiply by the reciprocal

    79/20 divided by 5/8 = 79/20 * 8/5

    To multiply fractions, just multiply the tops and multiply the bottoms

    632/100

    That's 6 and 32/100, you need to get 32/100 into lowest form.  Divide top and bottom of the fraction by 4

    6 8/25

    2.

    Here, you will cross-multiply and solve. To cross-multiply, take the top left times the bottom right and make it equal to the top right times the bottom left.

    x/22=20/4 becomes

    x*4=20*22

    4x=440

    x=110

    _/

  5. For the first one simplify the top first so you would have:

    3  19/20

    -------------

    5/8

    Then make the top an improper fraction so u can divide:

    79/20

    ---------

    5/8

    Then divide and make sure to flip the bottom so u can multiply

    79/20 *  8/5

    Do cross cancellation and your answer in improper fraction is 158/20

    Mixed number:  6  8/25

    Second Problem you want to Cross Multiply first so you get:

    4x=440

    Divide both sides by 4:

    x=110

    I hope this helped.

  6. 3 3/4 + 1/5 = 15/4 + 1/5 = 75/20 + 4/20 = 79/20

    (79/20) / (5/8) = [(79) * (8)] / [(20) * (5)] = 632/100 = 158/25

    158/25 = 6 8/25

    Answer: 6 8/25

    x/22 = 20/4

    x = 22 · 5

    x = 110.00

    Answer: 110.00

  7. [3 3/4 + 1/5]/[5/8]

    = [3 15/20 + 4/20]/[5/8]

    = [(75+4)/20](8/5)

    = 158/25

    x/22 = 20/4

    x = 22(20/4) = 110
