Question:

2 MOTOGP races next year! Laguna & Indianapolis. Good news?

The world famous Indianapolis track was built in 1909 & has never had bike racing there before. The power of MOTOGP. The power of having a American rider with the number 1 plate again!

I think this is great news. I just hope the track (which is going to raced in reverse) will be good for bikes. So many purpose built car tracks are a big let down, so hopefully this will be a winner.

The really good news is for the first time since 1994, the 125 & 250 boys will be coming state side.

It seems a shame that while KR Jnr had the 1 plate nobody really gave a monkeys bum.

So............. Whats your thoughts on this new race venue? I can't wait!

  1. living in indianapolis all my life, ive realised that racing has become quite the culture around here

just so you know....the track built in 1909, was originally host to a motorcycle race...and one of the driving (no pun) forces behind the MotoGP race was the 100 year anniversary in 2 years

when the first F1 race was over...i looked at my dad and said "Time for a motorcycle race"

it took a little longer than i hoped...but ill be there in 08 for the 1st race

  2. I am glad they are coming closer to my home but it's a half @ssed reworked track with poor transitions from the banking to the infield much like daytona so I think it sucks

we needed a track closer to th east coast like barber motorsports park or maybe do a little tune up to mid ohio or VIR

laguna is 2700 miles from my house so i will not be riding anytime soon

Indy will be a 10-12 hour ride

  3. i am very interesting in motogp and i expect very good and exciting races

  4. This is probably the best news I've heard all year, as far as MotoGP goes. I just wish the circuit was more suited for bikes, but we will see how it works out. I'll be there for sure!

  5. Howdy Wiggy,

More motogp can only be good!

You were reading my mind when you added the map! Then I tried the Indi. website (who's "intro" looks like a dodgy beer ad!)  Then I tried you tube - and had a look at Barichello taking pole in F1 - doing it the right way around.

So in my considered opinion - I ain't got a clue if it will be good for bikes, though if they're using some of the original loop/banking that might be a crack.

Time will tell - they haven't actually built it yet - so if it's anything like Wembley - they might get it done in time for the centenary! hee hee hee!

Am glad the other classes will get a chance to race there too.
