First question:

I got a new CD player/radio for my car, I didn't install it, my step dad did but anywho everytime you turn on the headlights while you have the CD player on it turns off and then you lose all your programmed channels. Also when you put a CD in it just keeps turning on and off. Is this a fault with the product or the installation?

Second question:

The CV joints on the car have had it. I was talking about it to a mechanic friend of mine (who lives many many miles away) and he said that mechanics can have it fixed for only $100 AUD (he said that's what they do at his work, because they send the shafts off to some company who repairs them and then sends them back and it ends up costing roughly $100 including labour). Any mechanics out there who reckon all mechanics charge this? I was going to buy new ones off eBay for around $200 brand new but this option seems so much better..

Thanks in advance
