Question:

2 car accidentt, both have Progressive. Good or bad?

I was involved in a two car accident a week ago. I was injured, and the driver of the other vehicle is fine. The other driver is at fault. (In MY opinion! Also, I'm 99% sure it was written up that way, but we don't have a copy of the report yet) Both cars are insured by Progressive. Based on your previous experiences or whatnot, how do you see this playing out? Do you think it will be a while before I'm reimbursed, or the opposite since Progressive doesn't have to deal with another company? Also, since Progressive "loses" either way and has to pay, do you think it's less likely I'll get fully and/or adequately compensated?

If it makes any difference, here's additional info: I have no health insurance and I was taken to the ER. (not by ambulance) I have a broken foot and a cracked rib. I have an ER visit, multiple Xrays, 2visits to the orthopedic surgeon, and three prescriptions to pay for. My car is totalled, and I'm missing work - no crutches, I'm in a wheelchair because of the rib

  1. It may be the same parent company, but it's two separate policies, so that won't be a factor.  Once you have the police report, make sure your agent has a copy of it.  You are entitled to your damages to your vehicle, and your medical expenses as a result of the accident.

  2. Contact a good accident claims attorney. Then Progressive will look at what was written up at time of accident and decide who was at fault and make payments then.

  3. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Because both parties are with the same carrier, it should really speed up the process. As for being properly compensated, they have to follow a standard claims procedure that is approved and overseen by your state's insurance commissioner. You should receive the same amount that anyone else with a similar circumstance would receive. As long as the at-fault driver (fault is determined by the insurance company, not the police) had adequate coverage, you should receive enough to repair the car, pay for your medical expenses, and pay for lost wages. Maybe more if you have any long term injuries that will affect your ability to work. They will wait until all your injuries have been resolved or you sign saying they are, to pay your medical and lost wages.

  4. would like to know who gets what on this one ,sorry for your luck god bless

  5. If you have full coverage, you should have at least PIPA (personal injury protection, plan A) which is 20,000 of coverage per person, for medical reimbursement. Progressive will Subrogate between the plans benefits based on the police report.
