  1. We have 2 adult cats and 1 kitten. We also have 2 large boxes on the first floor and 1 smaller one on the second floor. This seems to work because I clean them every am.

  2. We've got three cats that share one litter box and there's never been a problem. Doesn't a litter box per floor sound a bit much?

  3. They can, however it'll need to be scooped more often, and the older cat may not allow the kitten to use his box for awhile.

  4. it depends.

only on how the cat wants it.

the cat you have now, may not want thenew cat using the litterbox

because he may consider it 'his'

and if he doesnt, that could start a badbeginning for them.

your best betis to just get  another litter box, and let the catschoose.

i had three cats and two litter boxes.

two decided to share and one greedy one used his own.

  5. I have 2 cats, having had one and then gotten another. Get 2 boxes. Trust me, you will want both and so will they. Just be careful that your older kitty doesn't decide to stop using their box because its been contaminated by the kitten.

  6. I'm in a similar situation. I have two 9 year old spayed lady cats and I'm getting a new Abby boy in a month. The present two share one litter box, but I will get the new cat his own box just to be on the safe side. Eventually they will all probably use the same or all of the two boxes but at least I'll give them the choice.

I would suggest you get him a box of his own. After he grows up and you see they are co-mingling their poo, let them both share one box.

    Congrats on the new kitty!

  7. I would get another litter box.  Cats can be very picky about where they use the bathroom and you want them to get along.  If they end up using the same box, thats fine, but at least there will be another option on hand.

  8. The general rule is one box per cat, per floor.  So if you have two cats in a two story house you will need four boxes.  They may use the same box at different times, but what about when they need the box at the same time?

  9. hiya,ya they can but the litter box will need to be cleaned out more often.i have 2 cats and 4 4 month old kittens that use the litter box.and at once i had 8 cats using the litter box. at the moment we have i large litter box and 2 normal sized ones that we clean out everyday

  10. we have 3 cats and 1 box...clean it daily and dump the box and sanitize it weekly to cut down on odor.  if u can afford one box per cat (plus litter), go for it.
