  1. When you are in Bangkok, walk as much as you can. Do not do as most tourists and visitors who only move by taxi or tuk-tuk. Walking around Bangkok, you will find more interesting things than you have ever imagined. The hidden Bangkok is really not far from the tourist streets but there are no tourists there. Just a couple of blocks from the main roads, you will find rows of market stalls and restaurants with more authentic foods, people and goods than the tourist traps can offer.

You can find airport hotel list on this page http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels... .  They have great discount up to 80% off.

Koh Samui is a diver's haven. The warm, tropical waters and beautiful coral reefs off the island make it perfect for scuba diving, therefore, finding lesson and rental places on the island is no difficult feat. Walking, biking, and swimming are all popular outdoor activities whether it be beachside or in the jungle. Paths may change depending on the season, check with your hotel or tour group for the best open paths during your stay.

A great way to get about the island is in a "songathew". Songathews are large red trucks and are Ko Samui's answer to a bus system. These trucks only run regularly during the day and destinations are marked in English on the truck but please ask if they go to the destination advertised. Rides can be cheap running around 20-60 baht on the normal busy destination, i.e. Chaweng beach. They do not run how you may expect however, as they do not have any official stopping points. Do not be afraid to flag one down as it is the only way to catch one. Well you will hear them honking their horn every site of foreigner. Make sure to ring the bell when you need to depart. At night, they serve as taxis however, the rates go up significantly for any use.

    Have a nice trip!

  2. Don't stay in a hotel near the airport, the airport is out in the boonies.  If you have a hotel near the airport you will be wasting time and money on taxi fare.  Get a hotel in the city so you can walk to many places or make use of the Skytrain.

Here are a few links for places around 1000 baht.

If you do not intend to take any boyfriends or girlfriends back to your hotel - this hotel offers a good value for a low price!  Atlanta Hotel, good location, near malls, street vendors, even a church, travel agents for tours and not far from the Nana skytrain stop.  http://www.theatlantahotelbangkok.com/di...

Lots to do in Bangkok but you don't have much time. Things to do in Bangkok. http://www.asiatraveltips.com/Thingstodo...

P.S. Two airports in Bangkok, do you know which one your connecting flight leaves from?   DMK is Don Muang.

    Good luck.

  3. see http://www.visualthailand.com for 1,000's of current photos of all Bangkok attractions. You will know right away the things you must see.

Hotels near airport at that price are not available. You can stay in town, possibly a hostel at Khao San Road which is a cool night spot

Check the photos and you will know what to see and do

  4. You can do anything you want. Nothing is a must! ;-)

I would suggest seeing Bangkok on a bicycle, if you feel doing that. It'll give you a chance to see a lot of Thai culture, people, how they work, where they live outside the tourist areas.

Good hotels for less than Bt. 1000 near the airport is going to be difficult. For that price they won't be good. Better take a taxi and stay good in town. The drive is about 45 minutes.

  5. Hotel Ibis to stay for cheap hotels you know what your getting.

Stay at Hotel Siam it isn't right in the centre that's why it is a bit cheap what it is near is Prathum Nam fashion Markets. including Baokieke Tower 2 tallest building in Bangkok it  has a revolving observation posts on the 83 floor, go to the buffet on th 78 I think only 700 baht eat as much as you want.

Take a tuk tuk to Central World and MBK for all your shopping needs. Take the skytrain to Saphan Taksin station get the tourist boat up to the Grand Budha, (no it doesn't shut today) then next door is the Emerald Budha lying down. Then off to the Khao San Road for some lunch.

    2 days done and dusted.

  6. I agree with Karazyal, I would not stay near the airport.

Plenty of hotels to choose from in that price range,

Make sure you choose one close to sky train or MRT.

That will save a lot of time wasted with taxis and the cost.

Must do's depends on what you like... shopping, culture, relaxing, clubbing etc.

Bangkok has all of those to offer.

    Enjoy your stay.
