  1. Thumbs

    and

Some birds have sharp beaks to open hard fruits while others don't

  2. the size and color of the finches he studied

in england, about 90 years ago, the moths were red living on a reddish try. after the iondrustial era dominated the air, the moths and trees began to change to a dark color. birds ate the red moths while the black moths adapted and survived.

  3. Peppered moths.  These used to be pale coloured prior to the English Industrial Revolution, this gave them good camouflage against the pale birch trees that they spent most of their time sitting on.

The industrial revolution spewed out a lot of soot, which caused the pale trees to become darker.  This then meant that the pale moths became easier to see, and a selective advantage arose for darker moths. Soon the vast majority of Peppered moths were dark coloured.

Darwin's Finches would make a nice second example.

  4. Antibiotics.

When your doctor says to take ALL your antibiotics on schedule he really means it. Antibiotics work in many fashions to kill bacterial infections. In the first few days of administering an antibiotic weaker bacteria in your system will die off quickly, the remaining are those who have characteristic which given them an advantage of surviving longer. When a large population of bacteria have died off a person may start to feel better and think that he or she should stop taking the medication. But in reality those few remaining bacteria are strong ones and will once again start multiplying. Now not only do you have a reoccuring infection, but you have a population of bacteria which is substancially stronger than the previous. This is in fact one of the main causes of increased incidences of antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Selection pressure has favored the stronger bacteria leaving the weaker to die off (very Darwinian).

    Darwin's Finches!

Darwin noted in his travels to the galapagos a number of different types of finches. These finches he found had many different characteristics, one of which was beak shape and size. In future studies of these finches scientisits noticed that during period of heavy rainfall finches with smaller pointier beaks seem to be more abundant. And they found that during time of drought finches with stronger thicker bears were more abundant. They believe that this is due to the avalability of different types of seeds that are available during time of rain and drought. When the season is dry seeds with hard shells are produced to protect from losing too much water, there for finches with stronger beaks could easily eat them, leaving smaller weaker beaked finches to starve. During periods of lot of rain, softer seeds are poduced which are easier to pointy small beaks to reach. Different selection pressures favor different types of beaks.

  5. My *** grew bigger and my love handle masses.

Just kidding!!! I don't know about him but one example is the human evolution from ape to caveman and then to us and  the other example is I don't know probably some turtle evolving into sea turtle along time ago.

  6. Islands show lots of strange things when it comes to evolution, like bright colors, bigger beaks, and smaller sizes.
