2 girl names, I can't choose!!!

Question

My husband and I are not finding out the s*x of our baby so we would like to go to the hospital with 1 boy name and 1 girl name...problem is I have two girl names I like.

Which one do you like better (our last name is real Italian)

Anna Isabel

Gabrielle Elizabeth

Notes on each:

Anna - I've always loved the name but fear she will be teased and called Anna Banana, it goes better with our last name.

Gabrielle- I like the sound of it, my husband doesn't care for the name Gabby, it's awfully long.

My husband were in the same situation with our first daughter... we waited until she was born to see what she looked like, and the name we thought suited her best was chosen.

They're both beautiful names... but what if you settle on one, and then when she's born you feel like she is the other? :) Just something to think about...

My middle name is Gabrielle and it was supposed to be my 1st name. My grandma said, "She'll be called Gabby and that's awful!"  - so I understand where your husband is coming from!

You could always switch to Elizabeth Gabrielle or just make it well known, she is NOT to be called Gabby. My daughter is Madalyn and she tells everyone, "My name is Madalyn - I don't like being called Maddy, thanks."

I love Gabrielle Elizabeth - I think you should keep it! She could be called Brie or Brielle for short too!

I like Anna Isabel the best.  Gabrielle is a long name that does usually get shortened to Gabby (which I agree with your husband on).  Being called Anna Banana isn't a terrible nickname, it is kind of cute actually.  So I wouldn't worry about that issue.  Best wishes!!!

Both are beautiful and instead of nicknaming Gabrielle Gabby nickname her Brielle or Briella.

I like Anna Isabel. So what if she is teased with Anna Banana? My name is Amy and I was called Amy ramey banana bama fo famey! All kids no matter their name will be teased at some point in there life.

I like both names but I like Gabrielle.You could always start your own short form and call her Abby.If you have a boy it will be a moot point. Best wishes on your pending parenthood and your "beanie "baby .

it sounds like you already kind of made up your mind so go with anna isabel. her nickname can be ann or izzy

gabrielle (like from desperate housewives) is ok, but if u are worried about her being picked on then people could also call her cabby is gabbing, you know something like that, kids pick on each others names no matter what, and if it isnt a name its a feature or some other silly thing,, its what they do.. so if u like it and hubby likes it AND it goes better with ur last name then go with it, its obviously ur 1st choice, go with the gut or u will keep thinking about why u didnt after. trust me, go with anna isabel

No matter what name you pick your child will get a silly nickname or teased for something.  But Anna Banana is really one of the kinder "nick names".  Out of your list I actually really like Anna Elizabeth.

I love both names.  Seriously.  Love both names.  I have 2 boys though!!!  I say Anna if forced to choose because like your husband, I do not like Gabby.

Anna Isabel- Love Isabel, but Anna is too common

Kids will always find a way to tease and make fun of a name even when you think it's a sure-fire way not to, so unless it's really bad, I wouldn't worry about it.  I think Anna Isabel is the way to go, especially since you're always loved the name, it goes better with your last name and your husband doesn't like Gabby (she will very likely be called this).

We're not finding out the s*x either and I'm finding it extremely difficult to 'commit' to a name this time around.  My husband finds a name from a long list I give him and says it's the one, but then I'm not convinced.  Ugh.  Looking forward to knowing!  I think we'll be in the hospital on day 2 without a name still.  :)
