  1. Your questions really need more detail in order to offer any sort of advise.  Horse's names are generally found from their personalities.  If she is a dainty female than you'd want something that says that.  If she is more like a tank, then a more fitting name than something dainty.  As for bits to use...how old is she and what is her experience level, as well as yours?

We had a paint pony one time that was named Tango.  I liked the name but it didn't really fit her.  Now I own a solid paint who's reg name is Order at da Bar and is called Carly.  I didn't like the name Carly at first because I didn't think it fit her, but nothing else sounded right and I never hesitated when calling her Carly....so Carly it is.  We also have a Skipper and a Mister Magical aka Rocket.  My husband shorten that last one from Rockstar which I prefer better but it is his horse so...what can I do?

  2. Hello,

Is this a new horse for you???

My horses all know their names, so if your horse knows its name I don't suggest changing it!

FOR bits, start with the most mild one, a snaffle and work up from there.  YOU always want the softest bit you can use, it may take some time and lots of trial and error.  But, if the horse won't work right in a snaffle, try a tom thumb (broken mouth shanked curb bit)...

    Apache is a good name...
