1. Which way does you skating foot have to be if you spinning? Not axels but just regular spins? [pics, videos and/or websites would be nice!]

2. I'm going ice skating tomorrow. I am going to wear UnderArmor pants and an UnderArmor long sleeved shirt under clothes. A T-shirt and a coat And some warm socks. What kind of pants should I wear?

You don't have to answer both of these questions, but if you know the answers please answer!

  1. Hey!!

You should probably wear track pants or tight fitting yoga pants. Not jeans! They don't allow you to move and the materials makes you extra cold!

It depends on what kind of spins you want to do! But go to youtube.com and type in corckscrew spin, scratch spin, um, sit spin, layback spin, back spin and add figure skating to the search as well!

That should give you an idea!

  2. 1. ITS WHAT YU MOST COMFERTABLE WIT,

MOST THA TIME THO PPL SPIN TO THER LEFT ON LEFT FOOT AND RITE ON RITE FOOT.

    2. JEANS IS FINE, YOU AINT GOIN PRO IN 1 DAY CHICK.

  3. 1. First of all an axel is a jump not a spin. Second it depends on if you are a righty or lefty. If you are a righty(most people are) you spin on your left foot and you spin counterclockwise

if you are jumping you still spin counterclockwise and land on right(for most jumps).

But, if you are lefty, you will spin on your right foot and spin clockwise. If you are jumping you jump clockwise and land on left(again for most jumps)

REMEMBER TO SPIN AND JUMP THE SAME WAY!!!!

you cant jump right and spin left it will mix you up!!!!!

    Heres a right(normal) scratch spin

    2. I would wear the underarmor only.(well it depends how thick it is) most people at my rink just wear underarmor. I wouldn't sugest a coat bc it can be restrainind, But what ever floats your boat.

  4. hehe just to clear something up.. an Axel is a jump not a spin :) when i first started i thought it was just the thing that the wheels are on on a car... didn't know it had anything to do with skating.. we've all been there i think......

the direction you spin affects what leg you spin on. if you spin counterclockwise (which is the direction most common) the you spin on your left leg and lift up your right for a simple one foot spin. the opposite goes if you spin clockwise..

it also depends on what spin you are doing... e.g. if spinning CCW, in a backspin you stand on your right leg....

if you're just going for fun with some friends then you can wear whatever you like. just keep in mind you need to be able to move well, it should be restraining, so a coat might be too heavy.

i think the underarmour is a good idea when just starting out, you'll probably be down on the ice at one point (even skaters who have been skating for years still fall occasionally).

i would recommend wearing sweat pants and a jumper, then a light top over the underarmour (I've actually never worn it, so this is just what I'd think would be good to wear). wear thin socks or tights; bring an extra pair in case you get blisters. don't forget gloves! they are lifesavers :) your hands will thank you.

    good luck and happy skating!!
