  1. You did have them arrested right, or at least had the police come and inventory and document the incident right. If you then follow-up, and file a case against the families, and the juveniles. You have to do so before the statutes of limitation expire. after the case is heard contact a collections office and show the amount owed to you. You'll need the police reports and inventory. They'll assess the value and the judge will decide what is owed. After the judgment. show the ruling to the collectors and the state of Florida can and usually does garnish it from the parents and juveniles (if they work).

The state won't do it for you, the advocacy groups only give you the numbers to the offices to contact, it is on you the victim to files the papers, and take the records to a collections agency so you can get paid the amount owed to you in accordance to the judges ruling. There is a time limit, usually only 18 months or you can kiss your money and valuables goodbye.

Note, most of Florida, the parents are liable for the actions of the minors. But not in all of Florida check the statutes to see if your case is within those parameters.

  2. You need to take them to court and obtain a judgment. And I don't think you can count on them paying anything till they turn 18, if then.

I really doubt any help will come from the government. Government is all pretty worthless. I believe you are limited there to getting that judgment within two years. After that they're off the hook.

Incorrect: You cannot sue the parents unless you can demonstrate the parents participated in the crime. And as said. You can now get judgment against the juveniles, but they won't be paying till age 18 unless they happen to choose to.

  3. You can SUE their PARENTS. I would find out their names and sue their legal guardians or parents. Call the victims fund again too. Bug them til they talk to you.
