2 kicker subs 15" L7s vs 2 kicker subs15" CVRs?

alright so I need opinions on this set up I currently have

an mtx 81001 its a cea certified mono amp rated 1500 watts rms @ 1ohm but measured 2000 watts rms at 1 ohm.

I actually have a pair of 15" kicker cvrs and the 15" L7s and I can wire each pair at 1 ohm.

what would be louder/deeper bass/spl

if I set my amp to 1000 watts to feed the 2 15" kicker cvr so that their 500 wats rms are properly set.

or should I set my amp to the 1500 watts and be short 500 watts to feed the 2 15" L7s?

so basically which set up will be better, and better I leave it up to your own opinion to describe what better is.

thanks for your opinions

  1. i would go with the L7s and get another 500watt RMS amp and daisy chain (add to or bridge) the two amps together for a total of 2000watts RMS

you dont want to run a setup that 500watts RMS short because if you send too much power to your sub, you risk damaging it. The cone of the speaker and the mechanical parts that make it move may break under the stress. Surprisingly, too little power can also damage your subwoofer — in fact, it's actually more common than damage caused by overpowering.

Even the toughest sub, however, can be damaged by excessive distortion from a clipped signal.

When the volume is turned up and the amp doesn't have enough power, the signal becomes distorted, or "clipped." This distorted signal can cause parts of the speaker to overheat, warp and melt. Not good!

You don't have to match speaker and amp wattages exactly. An amp with a higher output than the speaker's rating won't necessarily damage the speaker — just turn the amp down a bit if you hear distortion from the sub and don't run the speaker at extremely loud volumes for lengthy periods. Likewise, you'll be OK with a lower powered amp if you keep the volume down and don't feed a distorted signal to the sub

  2. I owuld go with the 2 Kicker L7 because ur pushin more air so its gonna be a little louder SPL wise I dont really kno about the Quality.

  3. L7's for suuuuuuuure.

  4. Run one amp on each of the L7 15's.

1500 rms into each will be nice.

    Sell everything else.

  5. Sell the subs you have now and buy a pair 12'' L7's and use the 1500 watt setup and you you will be right on time.
