2 leaves on 3 in. of vine... 14 leaves on 15in of vine, whats the algebraic explanation to this?

I understand the for every 3 inches you get 2 leaves but IDK how do I show the explanation to this?

  1. 2 lvs/ 3inch of vine,  14 lvs/ 15 inch of vine

    2/3 of leaf per inch of vine,  14/15 of leaf per indh of vine


  2. If that's all you have to go on, it's even simpler. For one thing if you had 2 leaves per 3 inches, there'd only be 10 in the 2nd example.

    If L = number of leaves and V = the length of the vine in inches, then

    L = V-1.
