2 mg of Xanax for 2 weeks? Addictive?

Question

The doctor would like me to be on this for 2 weeks for my nerves as we had some major stuff come up. Anyway I think I should take it but keep hearing about people getting hooked on it.

yep, and the worst part is the dt.  (detox). coming off of it is horrible

That's a pretty hefty dose; the typical starting dose of Xanax is .25 - .5 mg, which is then gradually increased if the symptoms don't subside. I'd check with your doctor about the dose. In general, you won't become dependent upon Xanax within a 2 week time span. However, do not stop taking it abruptly; you should gradually taper the dose over 4 or 5 days. Again, ask your doctor as I don't want to give this information over the internet.
