  1. Ok...if you are breastfeeding the breast milk is very efficient. There is little or no waste. It is perfectly normal, and expected to go a week without a BM. If it is formula you are feeding then it is normal to go every few days.

What exactly are you doing to help your baby poo? This is really concerning. You should not be giving the baby anything at this young age. Or doing anything to help him p**p. If you are, it is possible that you have messed up the babies colon, and this is why you are seeing the harder BM's. What reason has the doctor given for the hard poops? What are you doing to help the baby?

  2. My doctor had me mix in one ounce of prune juice with my son's bottle, and that really helped...  If she is uncomfortable, don't take "That's normal" for an answer.  Good job advocating for your child!

    Good luck!

  3. I would def take the baby to another doctor...It is not normal for her not to be able to do it unassisted...Is she formula fed or breastfed..If she is formula fed you might want to switch formulas to a low iron formula..If she is breastfeed you might want to try eating more fruits. Hope this helps and your daughter gets better I know how uncomfortable a babyh can become when constipated...And if you are using suppositories you really dont want to use them regularly because they can cause dependance..Your baby might be becoming dependent on getting help and might have to strenghten her muscles..

  4. My baby willb be 2 months old on thursday and we had the same problem!! I had to stimulate her to make it even possible for that putty  or rock hard stuff to come out!! It was a horrible experince and after trying several things (diluted apple juice--gave her too much gas, Karo syrup--made her vomit all the time, Soy formula---never could hold it down and many other things) The one and only thing that worked and continues to work is about 1oz of water a day!! My pediatrician recommended this so its perfectly safe just only use 1oz a day though to avoid dehydration!! Good Luck and God Bless!! (Hey our baby girls have the same birthdays)

  5. Change your pediatrician. She needs to see a specialist. A mother's instincts are always right. If you think something is wrong, then it definitely is. Get a second opinion from another doc.

  6. My little girl did this too! I gave her 1oz apple juice and 2 oz water and let her drink as much as she wanted. It helped. Because I was like you and thought she should have a BM. Her where hard as a rock and really thick. I did this for a month and now she is three months old and she goes on her own. No doctor told me this I just did it cause my grandmother said that is what I needed to do. She usally only drank about once of it but it was enough. And I only gave it to her once a day. The iron in the fomula is what caused my little girl to be like this for a while!
