2 month year old and eye contact.?

I know this may sound like a silly question, but I am just wondering, my little 2 month year old angel never makes eye contact with anyone. If she is looking at me, and my dad starts talking to her, she will turn her head to look but wont look at him or his eyes.

I know she is trying to focus because when I say something in interest to her she stares at my mouth. Anyone else has this problem?

Also how long should I be doing tummy time for her at this age?

And when did your baby start smiling a lot. She smiles sometimes but not a lot. I am just concerned because there is autism in her fathers family.

  1. 2 month old or 2 year old?  I'm guessing 2 months.  she can't even see clearly yet.  don't worry about autism.  she's just being a baby right now.

  2. Don't worry i had all the same worries about my son that is now 9 1/2 mths. He started giving us eye contact at 3 mths and smiling at 4mths and didn't laugh until about 4 1/2 mths. And he still only laugh and smile at certain people. I think tummy time for that age is the most 5 to ten minutes because they are just starting to get control of their head and neck. All babies are different and do their own thing at their own time just make sure you when looking for developmental growth give it a 2-3 month window.

  3. Im sorry but 2 month year old, that doesnt make any sense, is she 2 months old? 2 months is a little early to tell if she is autistic. her lack of eye contact could be a problem with her eyes, and her lack of smiling isnt a big worry either. I would be worried if she didnt answer to her name. Beyond that, its hard to tell if a two month old has any other problems...

  4. ok, what is a 2 month year old. is the baby 2 months or a year or 2 months and a year

  5. Please try not to worry. I have a 31/2 month old and worried about the same things you are and he is now making eye contact, smiling and just started laughing. If you are like me, you are researching everything online and reading books that tell you when your baby should start doing things. All babies are different and your baby will make eye contact when she is ready. My son didn't make much eye contact at two months either. He smiled randomly but now smiles every day. Your baby sounds like she's on track. Just be patient and give it some time.
