Question:

2 or a 4 channel amp?

Bought 2- 12 inch subs, together they are 1000 watts rms, 2x4 ohm, 102 db

all that i am powering is the subs. should i get a 2 channel or a 4 channel amp? and what amprage should i get?

  1. Chances are, finding a quality mono Class D amplifier will be the best bet and cost less.  Something that does around 1000 watts @ 1 ohm mono or more.  Maybe a Sundown SAZ-1500D.


  2. Use a 2 channel. You only have 2 speakers there is no need for a 4 channel. You won't get any better sound with 2 extra channels. If anything you'd get more distortion. Stick with the 2 channel and run them mono.

  3. A 2 channel or mono would be best. I prefer 2 channel so you have seperate left and right signals. Most 4 channel amps are too small because they are usually intended for smaller size door and deck speakers.
