2 ordinary $400 bikes stolen. what to do?

they were in front of my house after a fun ride with a friend. im 15 so is my friend. we might take legal action or just beat the kid a little and if he goes to the cops hes gonna have to say he stole the stuff so there he goes. what should i do. i live in a pretty high end neighbor hood with a guard guarded gate and a second regular gate. please post what i should do legally and non legally. ty

if you know who he is, go beat the **** out of him man... totaly worth it and is awsome, at the end say : if u go to police you gonna hafe to tell them u stole my bike (get proof he stold it tho)

you file a police report.  give them any evidence of purchase such as a serial number and receipts.  they will put the serial number in a national database for stolen things.  see if the cops can go to their house and find your bikes!
