So.. my bank is BMO.. the cheque to me is from TD (If you do not know those are 2 sperate banks in canada)

Anyways, whenever I cash cheques at my own bank, im only allowed 300 for the first 5 days.. and I need all the money from the cheque (I got it yesterday) because rent is due. And i think if i cash it at the teller of my bank, they will still hold it (Minus the 300) since its from a different bank. so here are the 2 questions

1. If I go to TD bank , even tho i am not a member there, if I give them my licence with my name, and the cheque which is belong to them (its from my aunt, but its her bank, sot he cheque is from TD)

Would they allow me to just cash in the cheque with them.. i know you used to be able to.. but can you still do that?

2. If not, and i brought my aunt (different one).. thats also her bank, if i just sign the back of the cheque, could she cash it into her account?

  1. Usually if you go into the bank and at the teller, just explain to them that you need the money; they should be fairly understanding. When I go inside the bank, the cheques are usually cleared then and there. The bank should be pretty understanding though. Good Luck :)
