I've heard of 2-story farming, about farmers growing only trees for all the human and animal needs on the farm, but what trees exactly? What kinds of trees are good for foder? Is there any website or books with any information on this subject, I can't find any.

  1. Here is a good article on the book 2-Story Farming.  You have part of the information correct.  It's based on growing trees to supply a lot of their needs as well as provide conservation.  That is the second story of the farm.  The first story is growing grain and forage crops under the trees that would help meet human needs and the animal needs of the farm.  It is an interesting concept.

  2. Try a Google search on "tree fodder", should give you all the info you need. Acorns, chestnuts, and mesquite are ones that I know have been used historically in the U.S.

  3. Unless you are growing eucalyptus for a koala bear farm, it is not practical.  ts
