  1. yes, they are worth it.  it will make a big difference in traction.  it won't really slow down the bike the way many think it will, but does make it easier to control.   easy to install as well

  2. as yo-han stated ...

what a flywheel weight does add rotational weight to the flywheel adding torque to the engine which inturn changes the power delivery.  alot of woods riders add the weight to smooth out the peakyness of a 2 stroke MX bike, which also drastically helps with stalling the bike in corners.  you don't have to stay up in the higher rpm or in the power band to ride quickly in the tighter stuff.

a classic example is the KDX which for all practical purpose is a KX with a flywheel weight added and a little wider ratio transmission.

it will not change the power but it will merely redistribute it over a wider range of rpm instead of the peaky power band of the MX bike...

typically, these are pretty inexpensive ($35-40) and relatively easy to install.  two or three screws in most is all that's required.

  3. would slow down the pick up on the bike...  so would take longer to get into the power band....

2 strokes dont have a flywheel for this reason...
