Question:

2 stroke scooter wont start?

not had this problem before. have not used scooter for about 5 days. i put some petrol in it and went to start it up but it would not start (kickstart or electric) it made the usual noise, but didnt actually start. does anyone know why this could be?

  1. Well I would say spark plug but about 30 people already did.  A lot of bikes have a gas shut off valve like on a dirtbike maybe someone shut it off.  However it is either 2 things.  Fuel isnt being delivered or the plug isnt sparking.


  2. Not running it for 5 days could have discharged the battery and made it low in it's charge so there isn't enough to start the engine. Try jumping it or take the battery out and have it recharged. If you have a charge gauge reader use that.

  3. try unscrewing the spark plug, start it up and see if you get a spark, if its not that ajust your idle higher then if it starts tun it down again

  4. maybe new spark plug

  5. buy a freaakin motorcycle.

  6. I'd start with cleaning or (better) replacing the spark plug. 2 strokes are particularly susceptible to plug fouling.

  7. Check the spark plug. Could also have water in the gas.
