I have a 2 week old kitten that was abandoned by it's mother. I have had it for almost 2 days now and it hasn't pooped. I have watered down the formula and tried mineral oil, but he just doesn't seem to want to p**p. He isn't straining it's almost like he isn't trying to p**p. he is peeing regularly, before and after every meal.(I am stimulating him) He should be able to control his own bowel soon I am guessing a week or less. should I be worried?

  1. You probably should be, if it doesn't p**p, it might be constepated, and I'm not saying this to be funny either, you should probably take it to the vet before it get's any worst, ask the vet if it's a problem

  2. when they are that young it is very small amounts.  sometimes they will l**k it up to keep tidy.  other times, they just aren't ready to poo yet.  give it time.  as long as he acts like he is fine, i wouldn't worry.  it is a good idea to take all new pets to the vet within the first 48 hours to get a wellness checkup.  you could talk to the vet about it then.

  3. I had the same problem with my two week old kitten. I had to take him to the vet, because he didn't have a bowel movement for like 5 days. They told me what they did is put some Vaseline on a digital thermometer (make sure it has a small tip) and put it into the r****m a little bit and massage it in there for about 30 seconds. If that doesn't work fill your sink up with lukewarm water and dip his bottom in it.

  4. prepare are bowl with warm water and dunk its butt in it and then stimulate the butt with a cloth. It sounds a bit cruel and they don't like it at all, but it works like a charm.

Be sure to dry and clean the kitten well afterwards.

  5. this is kinda gross but you have to message the rectal area for the kitten to have a bowel movement.  that is what the mama cat has to do.  so good luck.

  6. You can put a glove on and put your hand under it's bottom and it will pea but i don't know howto make it p**p

  7. he won't p**p for a while at about a month or so he'll start but till then keep stimulating his kidneys!

  8. I don't believe you should be worried. The kitten is obviously at a young age and it would not be peeing if it had a problem. If the kitten is keeping down it's food that is also good. See a vet if this continues for too much longer.

    Hope this helped :)

  9. How are you stimulating him? Try using a bowl of warm water and a cotton ball. Dip the cotton ball in the water and massage the anal area gently. Mother cats will l**k their little butts to get them to go, try imitating this kind of "stroke". You will need to keep doing this after feedings until you find little bowel movements where he sleeps. At that time he needs access to a litter pan. Kitten "poo" will also be very soft to the point of runny and can sometimes look like urine (it's usually a yellow color). You will need to have him checked by the vet every two weeks to make sure he is developing properly, but call the vet early if he seems to get a swollen belly, or appears to be in any discomfort.
